Understanding Morton Water Softener Salt Pellets

Morton water softener salt pellets are specifically designed for use in residential and commercial water softening systems. These high-purity salt pellets play a crucial role in the ion exchange process that removes hardness minerals from water. Unlike other salt forms, pellets are manufactured to dissolve at a controlled rate, providing consistent brine solution for effective regeneration cycles while minimizing maintenance requirements.

Key Features of Morton Salt Pellets:

• High Purity Level: 99.8% pure sodium chloride with minimal insoluble content
• Consistent Pellet Size: Uniform shape and size for even dissolution and brine production
• Reduced Sediment: Low insoluble content prevents sludge buildup in brine tanks
• Rust Inhibitors: Some formulations include additives to reduce iron staining
• Clean Operation: Minimizes residue and maintenance requirements
• Various Formulations: Available in different types for specific water conditions

How Water Softener Salt Pellets Work:

Morton water softener salt pellets function as the regenerant in the water softening process. During regeneration cycles, water dissolves the salt pellets to create a concentrated brine solution. This brine flows through the resin bed, where it exchanges sodium ions for the accumulated calcium and magnesium ions that cause water hardness. The high purity of Morton pellets ensures efficient ion exchange without introducing excessive impurities that could clog the system or reduce softening efficiency. The pellet form provides controlled dissolution rates, preventing salt mushing and ensuring consistent brine concentration for optimal regeneration performance.
