How NorthStar Systems Operate:

NorthStar water softeners operate using traditional ion exchange technology, where hard water passes through a bed of resin beads charged with sodium ions. As water flows through the system, calcium and magnesium ions (the minerals that cause water hardness) are exchanged for sodium ions. When the resin becomes saturated with hardness minerals, the system automatically initiates a regeneration cycle, flushing the accumulated minerals to drain and recharging the resin with fresh sodium from the brine tank.
